What's it all about?
As we came out of the first lockdown, the realisation hit that every aspect of our lives is affected by politics; from the creation of the overarching laws that keep us safe to the more mundane aspects like the price of energy bills, emission zones and even the annoying potholes in the road.

For many people, on a grand scale, politics can seem so far from day to day reality. Politics is inherently complex, which means it can be confusing and hard to understand, and is made even more difficult to engage with when the people chosen to represent us generally have no idea what it's like to walk a day in our shoes.

It is thought that these reasons may have contributed to the drop in voter turnout, especially since the 2016 referendum, with only 67.3% of people voting in the most recent 2019 general
election.

So the aim of The Politics Addict is to provide quick, easy to digest and understandable (and as unbiased as can be) overviews of the current political climate, with emphasis on how it affects all of us and how we can work together to build a better future, in the hopes that when the time comes, you will have the information you need to have your say.
As well as this, The Politics Addict aims to be an open forum for political discussion; a place where opinion is respected, feedback is encouraged and learning is welcomed.

Politics often seems like a different world, but it's not. It's OUR world - one that directly impacts us in every way and that we should all have the right to partake in - no matter how uninviting and perplexing it may seem on the surface. The Politics Addict is here to support anyone who wants to get involved and have their voice heard.
Remember, it’s our world and we have a say on the future of this country - so let's make it count.
